We’re seeking an Assistant Pastry Chef who is motivated, dependable, and eager to learn. This position supports the Pastry Chef in daily production, preparation, and presentation of all pastries and desserts while helping maintain Sweet Desires’ signature quality and style.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pastry Chef in preparing pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods.
• Follow established recipes and maintain consistency across staple menu items and seasonal offerings.
• Help with dessert preparation for catering, private events, and community functions.
• Measure, mix, bake, and decorate pastries under the guidance of the Pastry Chef.
• Ensure all products meet Sweet Desires’ standards of flavor, texture, and presentation.
• Organize and maintain cleanliness in work areas, storage spaces, and baking equipment.
• Support inventory management and communicate supply needs.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Assist with plating and packaging for retail and event service.
• Collaborate with the team and contribute creative ideas when developing new desserts.

Qualifications

• Previous baking or pastry experience preferred (1–2 years minimum).
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for pastry arts.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
• Familiarity with basic pastry techniques and baking equipment.
• Culinary or pastry school background is a plus, but not required.
