Ministry Overview Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado is a highly respected and impactful Catholic social services agency that has been serving the Diocese of Pueblo for 82 years. In response to the Church's call to care for the sick, poor, widowed, and orphaned, and with a focus on early childhood education, parental support, and opportunity building, CCSoCO addresses the root causes of poverty by providing skills and opportunities to those it serves. Why this role? This director level role is designed for someone with a strong Catholic faith who is ready to be the external facing ambassador for an agency that loves people and the charitable mission of the Catholic Church. The Director of Mission Advancement is one of the key voices in the ministry for its religious mission. The Director of Mission Advancement is also a key player in calling upon the generosity of the laity with the Diocese of Pueblo to partner in the Church's charitable mission. We are looking for someone with strengths in relationship building, major gift cultivation, and a vision to take the CCSoCO brand to the next level. This position exists as an integral part of the Catholic Church's ministry of charity in the Diocese of Pueblo. As Pope Benedict XVI declared: "For the Church, charity is not a kind of welfare activity which could equally well be left to others, but is a part of her nature, an indispensable expression of her very being." (DCE, 25) The Director of Mission Advancement serves as an ambassador for the ministry, entrusted with the responsibility of inviting the Christian faithful to participate in the Church's charitable mission through their gifts and resources. The Director of Mission Advancement calls upon the generosity of the laity to fulfill the Church's canonical right "to require from the Christian faithful those things which are necessary for the purposes proper to it." (Canon 1260). As a ministerial position, the Director must be a person "moved by Christ's love, [a person] whose heart Christ has conquered with his love, awakening within [them] a love of neighbor" (DCE, 33). The Director must serve as a credible witness to Christ through words, silence, and example, embodying the Church's teaching that charitable activity represents "a way of making present here and now the love which man always needs" (DCE, 31). General Function: The Director of Mission Advancement leads Catholic Charities' partners in the practice of Christian stewardship and invites participation in the Church's charitable mission through generous giving. This position bears responsibility for cultivating major donors, annual giving, grants, planned giving, and events. Reporting to the Executive Director and collaborating with the Board of Advisors, the Director provides leadership for the Advancement Department, ensuring that all fundraising, communications, and donor relations activities authentically witness to the Gospel and the Catholic identity of the agency. It is intended to reflect the principal job elements essential for making compensation and employment decisions. Position Overview Job Responsibilities:

• Externally facing ambassador for Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado's mission and values. Identifies, cultivates, and spiritually accompanies major gift prospects, helping them discern their charitable calling.
• Oversees capital campaigns consistent with the agency's strategic plans, working closely with consultants and capital campaign chairs.
• Develops and implements a planned giving program consistent with canonical requirements for pious foundations (Canons 1303-1310), including bequests, charitable trusts, and endowments.
• Serves as chief liaison to parishes and Catholic Schools, developing a relationship with them, and engaging the people to continue the work of God.
• Coordinates with diocesan offices and the Ordinary regarding special collections and appeals (Canon 1266)
• Develops and implements fundraising policies and procedures.
• Develops and oversees donor and prospective donor stewardship programs.
• Oversees the gift giving process and recognition program.
• Supervises and collaborates with Advancement Department team members, including the Development Coordinator and Development Intern, and provides guidance in the continued development and implementation of programs managed by these positions.

o Supervisory responsibilities include assigning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling work; evaluating and managing performance; interviewing, hiring, and orienting new employees; training employees when necessary; making salary recommendations; and recommending discipline or termination when necessary.

• Responsible for the annual operating budget of the Advancement Department and reports to the Executive Director and Board of Advisors on outcomes.
• Sets the annual calendar for all fundraising events
• Ensures comprehensive, accurate constituent, donor and prospective donor records.
• Generates financial reports regarding gifts, grants, and pledges.
• Responsible for the overall recruitment and coordination of all volunteers associated with the agency. As this ministry grows, there is the possibility of overseeing a Volunteer Coordinator.
• Acts as primary Advancement Department liaison to Board of Advisors.
• In collaboration with Advancement Department team members, responsible for setting all advancement goals and objectives that are clear and measurable via an annual fundraising plan.
• Frequently acts as the spokesperson for the agency and articulates the agency's religious mission to external constituents.
• Oversees the agency's public relations, including developing key messages.
• Serves as the agency's chief brand manager, including oversight of the brand voice, visual identity, core messages, and brand guidelines.
• Ensures all communications, marketing materials, and public relations reflect authentic Catholic teaching and identity
• Directs communications staff in creating and implementing the organization's strategic marketing and communications plan, including an annual calendar for print and digital communications, email marketing, and social media.
• Oversees the design, production, and distribution of annual reports, newsletters, direct mail, marketing materials, signage, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

• This is a ministerial position and as such the incumbent must be a practicing Catholic in good standing and in full communion with the church.
• Must be living a life consistent with the social witness of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Must publicly support and not publicly oppose the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Bachelor's degree required, ideally in non-profit administration, communications, business, etc., master's preferred. Three to five years of professional advancement experience in major gifts, donor relations, campaigns, or planned giving is preferred.
• Ability to effectively articulate the values and mission of Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado.
• A strong commitment to donor recognition and a proven track record of stewardship.
• Ability to maintain clear, accurate records and prepare accurate and timely reports.
• Willingness and ability to travel locally and regionally. (approx. 70% of the time).
• Proficient in computer software and systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Mail Chimp, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
• Strong managerial, leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proven project management skills.
• Highly self-directed with attention to detail and ability to organize effectively.
• This position requires the incumbent to reside within Pueblo County or the ability to relocate to Pueblo County within 6 months of hire.
