Shift & Schedule

• Shift Type: Mid Shift

• Schedule: 5×8-hour shifts

• Hours: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM

• Block Scheduling: Not required (open to accommodation if available)

• Weekends: Not required

• On-Call: Not required

Orientation

• Duration: 8 hours

Experience Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 2 years as a Histology Technician

• First-Time Travelers: Not accepted

• Floating: Not required (no floating within scope or to sister facilities)

Certifications & Licensure

• National Certification: ASCP – HT (required)

• BLS: Not required

• Pending State License: Accepted

Time-Off & Scheduling Notes

• RTO Limit: No more than 5 days

• Guaranteed Hours Policy:

  • Client may cancel up to 3 shifts at any time without penalty

  • On-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours

Required Skills & Competencies

Core Histology Skills

• Tissue processing

• Strong embedding and microtomy skills in a high-paced lab environment

Embedding & Microtomy Experience (Required)

• Automated and manual microtomes

• Cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat

• Cutting paraffin blocks

• Embedding GI specimens

• Embedding large specimens

• Embedding molds

• Embedding small and large specimens

• Skin embedding techniques

• Histology cassette preparation

• Microtomy of fatty tissue

• Microtomy of hard tissue

• Paraffin wax sectioning

• Precision microtomy

Staining Experience (Required)

• Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining

• Slide preparation for staining

Systems Experience

• EPIC / Excellian experience required

• Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital

• Designation: Magnet / Teaching / Level III Trauma Center

• Total Staffed Beds: 672

• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue

• Charting System: Excellian / EPIC

• Parking: Flat hourly rate (applies to all shifts)
