Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Director to lead enterprise technology operations for a high-impact state government agency. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving strategic and technical direction, inspiring innovation, and ensuring efficient IT service delivery across multiple divisions.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise technologies, and governance frameworks. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and the ability to partner closely with senior executives and business leaders to drive IT transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Lead the IT functions for the organization with a strong focus on customer service, innovation, and operational excellence.
    • Build and maintain a high-performing IT team that embraces continuous improvement and service excellence.
    • Develop and execute multi-year technology roadmaps that align with business priorities.
  • Service Delivery & Operations:
    • Oversee all aspects of application support, project management, production change management, vendor management, cybersecurity, and quality assurance.
    • Establish and maintain clear metrics to track performance, identify improvement opportunities, and evolve processes with changing business needs.
    • Ensure adherence to IT governance, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor & Partner Management:
    • Own relationships with managed service providers and key technology partners.
    • Drive strategic initiatives in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure service reliability and scalability.
  • Governance & Communication:
    • Implement IT service frameworks and communication plans to drive transparency and accountability.
    • Deliver regular updates and reporting to senior leadership with meaningful metrics, insights, and recommendations.
    • Promote a culture of collaboration and business enablement across IT and business functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Expertise in at least one core IT discipline: Cybersecurity, Applications Development & Management, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Program & Project Management, Enterprise Architecture, GRC, End-User Computing, or IT Process Management.
  • Experience with enterprise contract review and negotiation.
  • Proven ability to recruit, lead, and develop technical teams.
  • Advanced leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading technical teams.
  • Minimum 3 years of strategic planning experience, including evaluating and implementing technology solutions to meet business needs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and execution capabilities.
