Project Summary

The Senior Audio-Video Production Specialist serves as the lead producer and on-site production manager for NSF's Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA). This role oversees all aspects of video and multimedia production, ensuring content aligns with NSF's strategic communications goals and is delivered on schedule, with high production quality.

Role Summary

The Senior Audio-Video Production professional is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing video and multimedia projects. The role includes supervising multimedia staff, managing studio operations, liaising with internal and external partners, and performing hands-on production and post-production tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conceive production concepts that align with OLPA's strategic communications goals.
• Translate complex scientific and technical topics into engaging video and multimedia content for diverse audiences.
• Assign, monitor, and manage production workloads across multimedia staff.
• Coordinate studio scheduling, equipment usage, and logistics for productions.
• Serve as the primary liaison between OLPA, NSF scientists, external partners, and collaborators.
• Oversee scripting, filming, editing, and post-production workflows.
• Track and fulfill internal and external media requests.
• Maintain and organize digital asset libraries and ensure proper permission documentation.
• Support maintenance of multimedia equipment and digital file management.
• Coordinate special partnerships and collaborative production projects.
• Plan for strategic distribution of video and multimedia content across multiple platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience as a video and multimedia project producer.
• Demonstrated experience managing teams of 3+ production staff in the creation of multimedia segments, programs, and series of varying scales and styles.
• Expertise in producing video programs and series for professional or broadcast environments.
• Proven ability to translate complex scientific and technical topics into video content.
• Experience in on-camera hosting, narration, or interviews.
• Skilled in scriptwriting across multiple styles for various audiences.
• Background in broadcast, documentary, or similar professional video production.
• Experience with strategic content distribution and multimedia marketing planning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience producing science-focused or research-oriented content.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards for video content, including captioning and Section 508 compliance.
• Ability to manage high-visibility, fast-paced production schedules.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, video editing software, and studio equipment.
• Experience coordinating multi-partner or cross-agency video projects.
